Established in Sheffield, Trupig Vegan is a multi-award-winning company that sells unique handmade vegan chocolates. Producing delicious, sweet treats and supporting animal welfare is at the heart of everything they do.
Trupig Vegan required brand and structural packaging design support to help them transition to their new brand. Their existing packaging solutions were taken from stock items, and they wanted to combine their graphic design and structural packaging to create bespoke packaging solutions that would add value to their products and raise the profile of their brand.
They required all solutions developed to be accessible at small order quantities and to be as environmentally responsible as possible.
What we did
Sheffield Hallam’s award-winning packaging design team, Design Futures, worked closely with Trupig Vegan to design a range of packaging solutions that would support the company’s full product range.
Design Futures created bespoke packaging solutions that would move the company away from using off-the-shelf packaging and provide their products with a true point of difference from competitors. The team designed postal packaging solutions to support the company’s online sales and used pig inspired shapes within its structure; alongside complimentary graphics, this created a pack that triumphed with Trupigs customers.
John Kirkby, Creative Director of Design Futures says, “We knew the success of our designs would be confirmed by the responses received on Trupigs Instagram posts. It has been great to see the reaction on social media to the new pig inspired delivery boxes. To gain that kind of response for something that replaced a basic, functional delivery box has been fantastic. The boxes are praised regularly and add excellent value to the brand.”
The Design Futures team also created a range of occasion specific graphics for Valentines Day and Halloween. The packs have opened up new business opportunities for Trupig Vegan, and alongside a previously designed chocolate advent calendar, have ensured sales are maintained throughout the year and the branding stays fresh.
The support Trupig Vegan received from Design Futures Packaging through the Sheffield Innovation Programme has enabled them to launch brand new designs and products to their current and new markets. The company has also had a complete rebrand, enabling their business to expand.
“Working with Design Futures through the Sheffield Innovation Programme has been absolutely instrumental and essential in our rebrand for the company. We had to go through a lengthy trademark legal proceeding from which we received support through SIP in the form of legal advice and design and branding work. We were able to seamlessly change the branding of our projects whilst levelling up the whole appearance of the brand with new products and bespoke packaging. It has also helped us to implement plastic-free alternatives in our packaging and ultimately reduce our carbon footprint as a business.”Lily GaskellDirector, Trupig Vegan
