The Sheffield Innovation Programme provided guidance, support and specialist consultancy allowing Safety Fabrications to overcome the technical challenges faced when developing a Davit arm to be used by Industrial Roped Access Technicians (abseilers) for both access & rescue. Working with The Engineering specialists within the University allowed us to theoretically explore a range of options prior to manufacture & physical testing.

The project exceeded my expectations, and has been ground breaking research, identifying some key performance variables in lower body mechanics. The project has helped me develop new coaching applications and create a new golf biomechanics program, adding a new element to my practice and enhancing my service offered, and provided an opportunity for further research. The project output has also led to the design of a golf training aid for lower body mechanics, which is currently in prototype development.
