The Biomolecular Science Research Centre (BSRC) at Sheffield Hallam University held workshops for Sheffield city regional brewers for a second time this year. The two day workshops covered the chemistry of brewing, genetics of yeast strains, bacterial contamination and “off-flavours” in beer.

Feedback from attendees included “good varied subject matter” and “lots of useful information”. Dr Jamie Young from the BSRC ran the workshops and tested beer samples brought by attendees for yeast content and impurities.
